Australia's largest commercial mango orchards in the NT

Australia's largest commercial mango orchards, producing 40% of the annual total supply of iconic, high-yielding Calypso® mangoes, are for sale.

The four orchards are in Darwin, Katherine and Mataranka in the Northern Territory.  They comprise a total land area of 1311 hectares, with around 523 hectares devoted to 140,000 established Calypso® trees with an average age of 10 years; all irrigated by secure ground water.  More than 300 hectares are still ripe for development.

The orchards have leases in place to at least 2026 with an established, experienced mango grower.

An exclusive agent is contracted for the sale of the mangoes to at least 2026 and this agent has a very strong customer base that includes the largest supermarket store chains and well known specialty grocers.

There is also considerable export market growth potential, including into China with a clean, green, iconic Aussie product.   In FY16, Calypso® exports (from all orchards across Australia) totalled 715,000 kg, which made their way to New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, the USA, Middle East and Malaysia.

OneHarvest wins 2 Marketing Awards for Love Beets

OneHarvest wins 2 Marketing Awards for Love Beets

Friday, June 27, 2014

OneHarvest has been honoured with two prestigious national marketing awards in the same week.

We received the Innovative Marketing award at the Ausveg National Awards for Excellence held in Cairns and also the PMA-Produce Plus Marketer of the Year Award at the Fresh Connections trade show and conference in Auckland, New Zealand.

This is fantastic recognition for the work the entire OneHarvest team has done with beetroot over the past eighteen months.

The awards come as we launch the product to the New Zealand market, via our partners Freshmax.  Meanwhile, we accepted the Ausveg award in front of a contingent of south-east Asian produce buyers who attended the Cairns event as part of a reverse trade mission to Australia.  Consequently, there’s strong interest in Love Beets from both New Zealand and south-east Asian retailers and partners, which we’ll be looking to capitalise on over coming months.

Australian grown baby beetroot are now available in a new, convenient format.

Home grown Love Beets® beetroot are peeled, cooked fresh and packed so they are ready to eat.

Love Beets® are simply 100% beetroot, no sugar, salt or additives- just naturally sweet baby beetroot.

In fact, Love Beets® offers a convenient way to add beetroot to any dish. However you enjoy it, beetroot makes an incredibly healthy addition to your weekly meal planning, as this original super food contains:

  • Antioxidants, carotenoids and flavonoids which have been reported to help reduce absorption of LDL or ‘bad’ cholesterol into the bloodstream
  • Soluble fibre, which has also been shown to reduce cholesterol absorption
  • Nitrates, which have been proven to boost stamina so your muscles can work harder
  • Mineral silica that has been reported to help the body utilise calcium
  • Folate which is great for expectant mothers

Beetroot is virtually fat free and low in calories, and has a low GL (glycaemic load) which means it is converted into sugars very slowly and therefore helps to keep blood sugar levels stable.

Love Beets® are produced by OneHarvest out of its purpose-built production facility in Bairnsdale, Victoria,  using beetroot grown in Cowra, New South Wales.

The Love Beets® beetroot is now available in major supermarkets, independent supermarkets and greengrocers, RRP from $3.00 for a 250g pack.

OneHarvest Wins 2 Prestigious Business Awards

OneHarvest Wins 2 Prestigious Business Awards

Thursday, October 17, 2013

OneHarvest was honoured with not one but two prestigious business awards in October.

We were presented with a Brisbane Lord Mayor's Business Award at a glittering ceremony at Brisbane City Hall on 11th October.   The awards celebrate the achievements and contribution made by Brisbane's business community to the city's $135 billion economy.

OneHarvest's award was in the 'new investment' category, specifically for our $13 million expansion of our Wacol production facility.  However above and beyond the factory build, judges in the awards said they were particularly impressed with how OneHarvest has been a real innovator in a traditional industry.

On the same night we picked up an East Gippsland Business Award, in the 'manufacturing' category, at a gala ceremony held in Bairnsdale, Victoria.

Vegco Secures Government Grant for Capacity Expansion

Vegco Secures Government Grant for Capacity Expansion

Tuesday, May 07, 2013

OneHarvest's salad freshcuts business Vegco recently received a $120,000 grant from the Victorian State Government's Business Flood Recovery Fund.

The money will go towards a $2 million upgrade to the production facilities, increasing their capacity and efficiency. It will ensure the plant has sufficient power needs to meet its seasonal peaks and also enable it to boost the throughput of its spinners by more than 70 per cent.

The upgrade is tipped to bring more than $3.8 million in economic benefits to the East Gippsland region, provide additional job security for the 250 people who work on site and directly create eight new, ongoing fulltime jobs.

Local suppliers, growers, transporters and other local businesses will also benefit from the increased production, resulting in more jobs, higher wages and other flow-on benefits for the region.

Member for Gippsland East, Tim Bull, visited the factory recently to make the announcement and tour the facilities.
